HISPANIC ADVISORY COUNCIL OF GREATER STAMFORD (HACGS)
COMMITTEES 2006
SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
Responsible for planning and coordinating educational, membership, networking, community and other events, in order to benefit HACGS members, officers, friends and visitors and the Hispanic community in the Greater Stamford area. Such events include:
-NRZ South End Health Fair- May 20, 2006 working closely with Sheila Barney, HACGS member and President of NRZ South End.
-Assist EL SOL News with Miss EL SOL News 2006-2007 Beauty Pageant- August, 2006. Working closely with staff members of EL SOL News newspaper.
-Hispanic Heritage Fair- September, 2006
-Networking and social events- April –December, 2006
OUTREACH/MEMBERSHIP/PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Identify, recruit and retain members for HACGS; Work with events committees to promote and publicize upcoming events; Assist in planning membership activities and trainings; Assist in developing HACGS welcome package for new visitors; Works as a liaison between HACGS and the local Spanish-language and English-language press, radio and TV channels; Creates press releases; Problem solving.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Introduce the general public to HACGS and its work in the Hispanic community of the Greater Stamford area. Members of this committee will work closely with the finance committee to identify and solicit financial and in-kind contributions from corporations, businesses, individual donations and special events.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
Responsible for monetary accountability of organizational funds and must consult with the officers about group’s annual budget and monthly expenditures; Maintain and account for all financial transactions on behalf of the organization; Encourage donor participations at events and forums; Work with fundraising committee in raising funds and help identify potential donors; Provide written reports of monthly activities at monthly meetings.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE:
Identify educational needs of community, obstacles Hispanics face in meeting those needs, ways to overcome those obstacles, Identify community assistance opportunities in helping Hispanics in achieving educational goals.
